Prop Firms That Allow EAs and Bots

Expert Advisors (EAs) and trading bots can run a strategy with more discipline than most humans, but prop firms treat automation very differently. Some allow any EA you built or bought, some allow EAs only on certain platforms, and some ban automation entirely. Here’s where algorithmic traders can trade.

Our picks at a glance

FTMO, FundedNext, Funding Pips, FXIFY. Each firm below accepts South African residents, and we’ve listed the rules that matter most for this use. Firm terms change often, so confirm details on the firm’s site before buying.

What to look for

Which platforms allow EAs. EAs usually run on MetaTrader. If a firm allows EAs only on MT4/MT5, choosing cTrader or Match-Trader can lock you out.

Banned automated strategies. High-frequency trading, latency arbitrage, grid and martingale systems are commonly banned even where EAs are allowed.

Third-party EAs and copy trading. Using the same bought EA as many other traders can trigger “identical trading” rules.

VPS use. Most firms allow a VPS, but check location and IP rules.

Firms that don’t allow EAs

SabioTrade bans all automated trading, including EAs, bots, APIs and trade copiers. Read our guide to forex trading robots for how to test an EA before using it on a prop account.

Trading from South Africa

Forex traders get the most liquidity during the London–New York overlap, roughly 14:00–18:00 SAST in the Northern summer and 15:00–19:00 in winter. US index futures are busiest after the New York cash open at 15:30 or 16:30 SAST. Payouts are income for SARS, usually declared through provisional tax: see prop firm tax in South Africa.
