SabioTrade is a one-step prop firm. You pay a one-time fee, trade a simulated account to a 10% profit target, and then earn a share of your simulated profits. Two things set it apart: the evaluation has no deadline, and education is built into the product. The trade-off is a strict rulebook, which makes it better for patient swing and intraday traders than for scalpers or anyone running an EA.

Who is behind SabioTrade?

SabioTrade was founded in 2022 in Dublin, Ireland, and is registered as Codevil IT Engineering Limited. Its trading platform and technology come from Quadcode. Like almost every prop firm, SabioTrade uses simulated trading: you trade virtual capital, and the rewards it pays are contractual payments from the company rather than profits from live trading. Prop firms like SabioTrade are not authorised by the FSCA as a financial services provider.

Plans and pricing

Every plan uses the same rules; only the account size, fee and profit split change. These are the prices on SabioTrade’s US site. South Africans buy on the international site, where prices may differ, so check at checkout.

Plan Simulated balance One-time fee (USD) Profit split
Essential $20,000 $139 80%
Plus $50,000 $339 80%
Advanced $100,000 $549 90%
Ultimate $200,000 $1,079 90%
Supreme $1,000,000 $6,889 90%

The split applies from your first reward, but SabioTrade doesn’t offer account scaling: if you want a bigger balance, you buy a bigger plan. A 7-day free trial lets you try the platform first, and PRO bundles include several evaluation attempts (three or twelve) in one purchase.

Evaluation rules

Profit target: 10%. Only closed trades count toward the target.

Daily loss limit: 5%. Measured from the previous day’s end-of-day balance and including floating losses. On a $100,000 account, equity can’t drop below $95,000 at any point the next day.

Maximum trailing drawdown: 6%. The limit sits 6% of your starting balance below the highest balance you’ve reached. If your high reaches $102,000 on a $100,000 account, you breach below $96,000. Because it trails your high point and counts open losses, a winning run followed by a normal pullback can end the account.

Consistency: 55%. No single day and no single trade can make up more than 55% of your total profit. If one day goes over, the target rises. Make $6,600 in a day on a $100K account and the target climbs from $10,000 to $12,000.

No time limit. Take as long as you need, provided you place at least one trade every 30 days.

Strategies you can’t use

Some older reviews say EAs and scalping are allowed, but SabioTrade’s current FAQ says otherwise. Banned practices include high-frequency trading, automated systems (EAs, bots, APIs and trade copiers), scalping, mirror trading, hedging including across accounts, and “all-in” trades that use an excessive share of margin. Forex leverage is capped at 1:30 and crypto at 1:3. On plans without weekend holding, positions must be closed by Friday at 3:45 PM EST.

Payouts

You can request a reward once every 7 days if your account is verified, you have no open trades, and you meet the 55% consistency rules. Payouts go by bank transfer or crypto wallet; bank or network fees can eat into smaller amounts, and payouts arrive in US dollars, so the rand conversion rate applies. After your first payout, the drawdown keeps trailing upward but your equity can never fall below your starting balance, so profit left in the account becomes your only cushion.

Platform and education

You trade on Sabio Traderoom, built on Quadcode, from your dashboard or the mobile app. It includes on-chart stop-loss and take-profit, lot sizes down to 0.001, more than 100 indicators and templates, a news feed and economic calendars. The Academy adds courses, one-on-one mentoring, private webinars and weekly market analysis, which is SabioTrade’s strongest point for newer traders.

Trading SabioTrade from South Africa

Can South Africans use SabioTrade?

Yes, through SabioTrade’s international site; its US site is for US residents only. You’ll need photo ID and a proof of address dated within the last six months.

Paying the fee in rand

At an illustrative R18 per US dollar, the $20K Essential plan at $139.00 costs about R2,502. Check today’s exchange rate and your card’s foreign transaction fee before you pay. Paying for an offshore service by card counts toward your annual offshore allowance under South African exchange control, which covers most traders’ challenge fees comfortably.

Getting paid in South Africa

Rewards go by bank transfer or crypto wallet in US dollars. Crypto can be sold for rand on a South African exchange; a bank transfer is converted by your bank.

Best trading hours in SAST

The London session opens at 09:00 or 10:00 SAST depending on UK daylight saving time, and the London–New York overlap runs through mid-afternoon, which suits South African traders who trade before or after work.

Tax on SabioTrade payouts

SARS generally treats prop firm payouts as income, not capital gains, and you must declare them even though no tax is deducted. Because the income isn’t a salary, you’ll usually need to register as a provisional taxpayer and submit IRP6 returns, with payments due by the end of August and the end of February. Convert each payout to rand at the rate on the day you receive it, keep records of fees you’ve paid, and speak to a tax practitioner. This isn’t tax advice.

Regulation

SabioTrade isn’t authorised by the FSCA. The FSCA supervises brokers and financial services providers, while prop firms that sell evaluations on simulated accounts generally fall outside its licensing. That’s legal for South Africans to use, but it means no FSCA complaint route or ombud cover if something goes wrong, so a firm’s track record matters.

Reputation

Feedback is mixed. Independent sites report ratings ranging from about 3.5 to 4.2 out of 5 at different times, and Trustpilot shows both verified payouts and serious complaints. Most negative reviews relate to breached accounts and rule interpretation, which is why the rules above matter so much.

Who SabioTrade suits

SabioTrade suits newer traders who want structured education alongside their evaluation, and patient swing or intraday traders who size positions small. It’s a poor fit for scalpers, EA and copy traders, hedgers, and anyone who needs MetaTrader.
