What the main rules mean in dollars
On a $100,000 account using the main program’s numbers:
| Rule | Percentage | In dollars |
|---|---|---|
| Profit target (first phase) | 10% | $10,000 |
| Daily loss / daily limit | 5% | $5,000 |
| Maximum loss | 10% | $10,000 |
The5ers uses a static maximum loss that stays fixed below your starting balance on this program. Profits you make increase your buffer, which gives you more room over time. Our trailing vs static drawdown guide has worked examples.
Other rules to know
- You can hold at most $40,000 in Growth evaluation accounts at once.
- Accounts expire after 30 days without activity.
- Weekend holding is allowed, but index swaps over weekends are high.
- Payouts: first after 14 days, then every 2 weeks; $150 minimum; 3.5% fee on cash methods.

Recent rule changes
The5ers’ core rules have been stable, but in March 2026 it acknowledged payout delays, and some traders reported extra strategy interviews and KYC checks before payouts.
Evaluation vs funded account
Don’t assume the rules stay the same once you’re funded. Check these funded-account conditions at The5ers, and re-read the funded section of the terms the day you pass:
| Payout schedule | Every 14 days |
|---|---|
| Payout speed and methods | 5–8 business days; 3.5% fee on cash methods |
| Consistency | 3 profitable days per step (High Stakes) |
| Profit split | 80% rising to 100% at $350K (High Stakes) |
The5ers rules for South African traders
Yes. South Africa isn’t on The5ers’ restricted-country list, and South Africans can join High Stakes, Growth and Bootcamp. Know your daily loss reset time in SAST: firms that reset at 5 PM New York time reset at 23:00 or 00:00 SAST. Fees and payouts are in foreign currency, and payouts are income for SARS.
How traders most often break The5ers’s rules
- Hitting the target before completing three profitable days, then overtrading to ‘finish’ the days.
- Forgetting the High Stakes news window.
- Letting an account sit idle for 30 days.
For a practical plan to avoid these, read how to pass the The5ers challenge.
